If you have unique products that differ from each other, and that others might search specifically for, then consider the Searchable Option. For example, a searcher might be looking for an antique roll-top desk. If you offer an antique roll-top desk, and have chosen the Searchable Option, your Item Page may appear very high on the search engine results list, and a searcher might be brought directly to your Item Page.

Without the Searchable Option, only your home page will be indexed by the search engines. The content of your home page will be much more general than each of your specific Item Pages, and your search engine score may be much lower.

If your entire shop very focussed, you might not need the searchable option.
